Plato Racing to Race Under New Name at Donington Park

Good news from the BTCC paddock: the team formerly known as Plato Racing will indeed compete at Donington Park this weekend, albeit under a new identity. The confirmation puts an end to weeks of speculation about the squad's future amid ongoing administration proceedings.

Both Cataclean, the title sponsor, and TOCA, the series organiser, have released official statements confirming the team's participation in rounds 19-21 at the Donington Park GP circuit. Notably, the name of Jason Plato is no longer listed as part of the team's management—a significant change that has drawn immediate attention.

Plato, a name synonymous with BTCC glory, had previously spoken about how deeply the team meant to him. He called his involvement with the squad one of the proudest moments of his life, even saying it pulled him out of dark times. However, TOCA has made clear that Plato remains part of the BTCC family, even if he is no longer directly involved in the team's operations.

"Jason is unquestionably one of the BTCC's greatest stars, and his exceptional record speaks for itself. He has long been—and will remain—a valued part of the BTCC family," TOCA said in a statement. They also confirmed the team will continue for the rest of the 2026 season under a new name and management structure, to move forward positively.

Separately, a Cataclean spokesperson confirmed the company will provide interim funding for 'CPRL', the new entity taking over from Plato Racing. The decision follows successful discussions with the Joint Administrators. "Cataclean will provide interim funding for CPRL to continue while the future of the team is confirmed," the spokesperson said.

This move comes as a relief for the team's crew and loyal fans. Without funding certainty, the team's fate could have been sealed. Cataclean stressed that their priority is to keep the team operational, safeguard jobs, and protect creditors. They also believe BTCC still offers the best value for their investment, both in terms of TV exposure, live attendance, and digital reach.

With the administrative drama now resolved, attention turns to the action at Donington Park, where the team with its new management will aim to prove they remain competitive despite the internal upheaval.
