The Marina Bay Circuit is bracing for a race defined by low tyre degradation and extreme overtaking difficulties, a scenario that could potentially freeze positions right after the start. However, Ferrari intends to exploit its numerical advantage at the front to challenge Max Verstappen for the race victory. Pirelli Chief Engineer Simone Berra outlined the strategic options available during a routine media briefing with FormulaPassion.
Reviewing the overall race outlook, Simone Berra considers a one-stop strategy as the default choice barring external variables such as rain, Safety Cars, or Virtual Safety Cars. He noted that overtaking remains exceptionally arduous even when a significant performance delta exists between cars on track.
According to Pirelli, the soft compound is heavily favored for the start of the race. Based on limited gathered data, the C5 compound performs exceptionally well, aided by the circuit layout and cooler evening temperatures. With degradation remaining very low, the soft tyre is capable of completing a sufficiently long stint before opening up various strategic avenues.

Simone Berra emphasized that the C5 is undoubtedly the best compound available, providing superior grip and a clear performance margin over the medium and hard alternatives. For the second stint, choices may diversify as teams weigh the slightly higher peak grip of the medium tyre against the durability of the hard compound.
For Ferrari, the most viable paper strategies revolve around soft-medium or medium-soft combinations. With undercut opportunities minimized due to tricky tyre warm-up phases in slow corners, precise pit stop timing and strategic execution will ultimately dictate the battle for the win.
