Pajari Extends Lead in Paraguay: 24s Clear Ahead of Super Sunday

Sami Pajari continues to impress in the WRC. On day two of the Rally del Paraguay 2026, the Finn retained the top spot despite not winning a single stage. He now holds a 24-second advantage over Hayden Paddon and nearly a minute over championship leader Elfyn Evans.

Saturday in South America was calmer than Friday's storm-hit drama. No major incidents among the top runners. Pajari, in his Toyota GR Yaris Rally1, delivered a consistent top-five performance all day, only losing a little time on the final stage but still keeping his rivals at bay.

The key to Pajari's success was mature race management. Instead of pushing flat out, he adopted a steady pace, avoiding risks. This strategy proved effective, especially as Hayden Paddon struggled to find consistent speed, and Evans lost significant time in a few corners.

Meanwhile, Adrien Fourmaux was the star of the day, winning five of the eight stages in his Hyundai. However, his brilliance wasn't enough to topple Pajari from the lead. Sebastien Ogier also bounced back after retiring on Friday, and Takamoto Katsuta returned to contention after an earlier roll.

With a 24-second cushion, Pajari is in the driver's seat heading into Super Sunday. He has a strong chance of securing back-to-back wins after his success in Finland. But WRC is always unpredictable. Paddon and Evans are sure to fight back. Can Pajari hold on? We'll find out on the decisive day.
