Norris Extends McLaren Contract Until 2030

Lando Norris has officially extended his contract with McLaren until at least 2030. The announcement was made by the Woking-based team on Saturday morning, confirming the long-term commitment of the reigning Formula 1 world champion.

The new deal replaces his previous contract that ran until the end of 2027, effectively adding four more years to Norris's tenure at McLaren. It also includes multi-year options that could extend his stay even further.

Announcement Amid Success

Norris personally broke the news to McLaren factory staff during the team's annual family and friends open day. This moment underscores his deep connection to the team that nurtured him since joining as a junior driver in 2017.

"McLaren is my home, and I'm very pleased to be signing a new contract to keep me with the team until at least 2030," said Norris. "When I started this journey nine years ago, I was clear about the goals I wanted to achieve: to get McLaren back to the front and to win championships. We've achieved that goal, but we want more, we want to keep on winning, and we know as a team that we're capable of achieving it."

Norris's Impact and Implications

The extension comes amid Norris's impressive form in the first half of the 2026 season. He has capitalized on McLaren's car upgrades to secure back-to-back victories in Hungary and the Netherlands. As a token of appreciation, McLaren also gifted Norris his championship-winning car, the MCL39.

Team principal Andrea Stella welcomed the continuation of their collaboration. "He is an exceptional driver, someone who combines outstanding natural speed with maturity, consistency, and a strong commitment to McLaren," said Stella. "This extension gives us important continuity and reinforces our confidence in the direction we are taking together."

With Norris now tied to McLaren until 2030, the team boasts one of the most stable driver line-ups on the grid. Teammate Oscar Piastri remains under contract until the end of 2028. This combination provides a strong foundation for McLaren to continue competing at the front of Formula 1 in the coming seasons.
