MotoGP, Sportrik Media - 2025 MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez of Ducati Corse arrived in Jakarta on Monday (29/9/2025) and met Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace on Tuesday (30/9/2025). This visit, ahead of the MotoGP Mandalika 2025 on October 3–5, underscores Indonesia’s push for sport tourism.

Historic Visit and Meeting
Marquez arrived at the Palace from 4:30 PM to 5:33 PM WIB, joined by Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir and young Indonesian riders Mario Suryo Aji and Veda Ega Pratama. The meeting, held three days after Marquez clinched his seventh world title with a second-place finish at the 2025 Japanese Grand Prix in Motegi with Ducati, highlights Indonesia’s support for the Mandalika event.
Marquez’s Enthusiasm for Indonesia
Post-meeting, Marquez shared his excitement. “I’m thrilled to be back in Indonesia after becoming world champion three days ago,” he said. He views Mandalika as his first post-title Grand Prix. “It’s the best circuit with many fans. I’ll try to enjoy the Mandalika GP,” he added. Despite two prior DNFs at Mandalika, his secured title allows a relaxed approach, though he’s eager for a first podium there.
Government’s Sport Tourism Push
Erick Thohir emphasized the meeting as part of efforts to boost sport tourism and the economy via MotoGP Mandalika. The presence of local talents Mario Suryo Aji and Veda Ega Pratama reflects Indonesia’s commitment to nurturing young riders. The event schedule includes free practice on Friday (3/10/2025), qualifying and sprint race on Saturday (4/10/2025), and the main race on Sunday (5/10/2025) at Pertamina Mandalika Circuit.
Anticipation for an Exciting Race
Sportrik analysis predicts a thrilling 2025 Mandalika MotoGP, with Marquez a favorite after his dominant season. Fan support and government backing amplify the event’s allure, expected to drive tourism and economic growth. Marquez’s champion status promises an unforgettable weekend for Indonesian MotoGP fans.
