Honda’s recent confirmation regarding its rider lineup has brought the remaining spots on the grid into sharp focus. Honda announced that Somkiat Chantra will remain alongside Jake Dixon for the 2027 WorldSBK season, leaving five seats still officially undecided in the championship paddock.
In theory, those vacant spots account for two places at Motoxracing Yamaha, alongside single machine entries run independently by MGM, Motocorsa, and Goeleven. However, according to reports from GPOne.com, the MGM outfit is yet to confirm whether it possesses the required budget to compete in the 2027 campaign.
As reported via Crash.net referencing GPOne, there is "a real risk that MGM will be unable to continue its Superbike adventure". This sudden financial cloud immediately casts serious doubt over the future racing plans and continuity of their primary rider, Tarran Mackenzie.

Mackenzie’s current season has been a rollercoaster of strong flashes and severe misfortune. After kicking off the year with an impressive fourth-place finish at Phillip Island, the Briton fought his way back to the top five at Misano, only to suffer multiple severe injuries including fractures to his left tibia and fibula, collarbone, and shoulder blade during his home round at Donington.
While Loris Baz stepped in as a stand-in at Cremona, the squad maintains optimism about their regular rider's recovery. MGM officially states they "hopes to have [Mackenzie] back with us for the final two rounds of the WorldSBK season". Meanwhile, alternative garage shifts continue elsewhere, with Goeleven and Lorenzo Baldassarri reportedly eyeing a potential expansion into a two-rider structure.
