When the starting lights went out at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, Maximo Quiles immediately displayed extraordinary determination to secure the 2026 Moto3 world crown. The young Spanish rider arrived in Indonesia with a massive 127-point championship lead, putting him in a perfect match-point scenario with the Aspar squad.
Despite only securing a sixth-place grid position in qualifying behind his main title rivals such as Brian Uriarte and David Almansa, Quiles did not dial back his ambitions. As soon as the first corner was cleared, he forcefully charged to the front group and seized the race lead with an extremely aggressive riding style.
Entering lap three, the race instantly turned dramatic as a flurry of crashes unfolded further back in the pack. Capitalizing on the chaos among the chasing group, Quiles immediately hammered down to launch a solo breakaway at the front while setting the race's fastest lap.

His comfortable gap briefly shrank when the championship leader made a rare mistake by running wide during the first half of the race, but he instantly responded to keep his pursuers at bay. Securing his 10th victory of the season officially sealed the championship title in dominant fashion.
This brilliant achievement also serves as a sweet farewell before he steps up to the Moto2 class for the 2027 season with the successful Valencia-based outfit. His undeniable speed and consistency throughout the campaign ultimately proved to be the ultimate difference in the lightweight class.
