Martin Brundle Questions Red Bull Turmoil Around Verstappen

Martin Brundle has suggested that Max Verstappen’s camp played a major role in applying pressure to the senior management structure at Red Bull Racing. His comments follow a period of significant senior departures from the reigning champion team.

Red Bull has lost several key figures in recent times, including Christian Horner, Adrian Newey and Helmut Marko. RacingNews365 also understands that Paul Monaghan is set to become the next senior figure to leave, with a move to Cadillac expected.

The series of exits comes while Verstappen’s own future at Red Bull remains a recurring topic. The Dutchman has been linked in recent weeks with a possible move to McLaren, although no official decision has been announced over his long-term direction.

“They wanted to torpedo the management of Red Bull,” Brundle told Sky F1.

Brundle pointed to the departures of Horner, Newey, Marko, Jonathan Wheatley and now the expected exit of Monaghan as part of a wider pattern. In his view, Verstappen’s camp may have been too effective in pushing changes inside Red Bull.

“They did a bit too good a job of wanting to move some people out of the way,” Brundle said.

From a competitive perspective, the situation is significant because Red Bull is dealing with technical and political pressure at the same time. Losing experienced senior personnel can affect car development direction, race operations and organisational continuity heading into Formula 1’s next regulatory phase.

Brundle also argued that Verstappen’s management exploring opportunities elsewhere is a normal part of paddock strategy. He said teams and driver camps constantly assess availability, contract timing and future options because Formula 1 operates within a very small competitive environment.

Red Bull’s internal stability is now one of the most important strategic questions of the season. If further senior exits materialise, the team must protect its technical and political structure, while Verstappen’s future will remain central to the long-term direction of its Formula 1 project.
