Marc Marquez is entering the Aragon weekend in full attack mode. Recovered from the physical struggles that plagued him earlier this season, the Gresini Racing rider now arrives at a circuit that has always been his personal playground.
Seven wins and seven pole positions in MotoGP at MotorLand Aragon are more than just statistics—they prove just how dominant Marquez has been on this track. It's no surprise he's being tipped as the clear favorite, especially after his strong showing in Friday's practice.
Speaking in the pre-event press conference, Marquez didn't hide his intentions. He knows that if he wants to fight for the world championship, a strong result here is non-negotiable.
“Obviously this is a track I like and it suits my riding style well. Regardless of the result, I enjoy riding here, but if I want to fight for the championship, I need to finish ahead of my rivals,” he said.
He also acknowledged that Aprilia has found something special this year, with all four of their riders fast on every circuit, especially on tracks with high-speed corners like Assen and Silverstone. Aragon offers a mix of corner types, but Marquez feels comfortable on his bike and believes he can fight for victory if he unlocks its full potential.
The main focus, once again, is on the condition of his right arm. Although the Le Mans crash is behind him, the issue resurfaced at Silverstone, where he admitted he couldn't control his arm after the race. This stemmed from his intense gym work during the summer to build muscle mass, followed by over-pushing in FP1—a mistake he can't afford to repeat.
“I was a bit troubled because I couldn't ride as I wanted. I hoped and believed my physical condition was better because I had gained some muscle mass, and I started the weekend riding aggressively from FP1. But when I got up on Sunday, I realized it wasn't the right time to do that. I need to recover, I need to do some laps on Friday so I'm in better physical shape for Sunday. Here it should be better, both for my right arm because there are many left-hand corners, and for my riding style, which suits left-hand corners particularly well,” he explained.
MotorLand presents itself as the ideal opportunity to turn the page after the difficulties encountered at Silverstone, especially in managing the rear tyre. Aragon is also much more favorable terrain for the Ducati compared to the British circuit, and Marquez can try to reduce the gap to Jorge Martin, who now leads by 40 points after the British round.
