Marc Marquez delivered a perfect weekend at Aragon, sweeping both the Sprint and Grand Prix victories. The result propels him to second in the championship, now just 19 points behind Jorge Martin, who previously held a 40-point advantage.
Starting from second, Marquez made a bold move on Marco Bezzecchi at Turn 1, but briefly lost the lead when Bezzecchi fought back at Turn 3. The pivotal moment came when Marquez overtook Martin at Turn 15, allowing Pedro Acosta to slip through to third.
"I'm very happy with this double victory," Marquez said. "I said the goal was to get as close as possible to 37 points, and I think we did it. The strategy was the same as yesterday, but I was so focused on Turn 1 that I forgot to disengage the rear height device. After that mistake, the new target was to not crash, then get back into my rhythm."
Francesco Bagnaia was the first casualty, crashing on Lap 6. On the same lap, Marquez overtook Bezzecchi for the lead at Turn 15, but Acosta seized the opportunity to pass both and take second. Franco Morbidelli also crashed on Lap 7, while Raul Fernandez retired due to technical issues.
Marquez and Acosta then broke away from Bezzecchi, with Marquez pulling clear after half-race distance. He crossed the line 1.7 seconds ahead of Acosta, while Bezzecchi completed the podium. Martin had to settle for fifth, behind Gresini's Alex Marquez. Fermin Aldeguer made a strong return from injury, finishing sixth for Gresini.
"I'm satisfied with the weekend," Martin said. "The race sensations were similar to the sprint, but I think we still made a step forward. This track is extremely complicated for me, but we managed to improve in every session."
Jack Miller finished 11th and lamented a lack of straight-line speed, while his teammate Toprak Razgatlioglu crashed out. With this result, the title fight is heating up.
