Marc Marquez showed his mastery of the Aragon circuit once again, taking a commanding victory in the 2026 MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix and closing the gap to championship leader Jorge Martin.
Starting from second, Marc Marquez lunged into Turn 1 to snatch the lead from pole-sitter Marco Bezzecchi. But drama unfolded as he exited Turns 2 and 3, seemingly with a stuck ride-height device, allowing both Bezzecchi and Martin back through.
Marquez responded swiftly, passing Martin at Turn 15 before hunting down Bezzecchi. On lap six, he made his move at the same corner, but in a stunning twist, Pedro Acosta swept around the outside of Bezzecchi to take second place.
Acosta, who will be Marquez's teammate at Ducati next year, pushed hard for several laps. However, Marquez then unleashed a series of 1m46s laps that broke the KTM rider's challenge, allowing him to manage the gap to the flag, finishing 1.7 seconds clear.
The win trims Martin's championship lead to just 19 points, with Bezzecchi completing the podium ahead of Alex Marquez. Martin had to settle for fifth, missing a chance to extend his advantage.
Behind, there was drama as Ducati riders Pecco Bagnaia and Franco Morbidelli crashed out early. Meanwhile, Diogo Moreira impressed by holding off a train of riders on his LCR Honda before finishing ninth. Jack Miller was again the top Yamaha in 11th.
With this result, the 2026 MotoGP title fight is heating up. Marquez has proven he remains Martin's biggest threat, and Aragon was a clear statement of intent.
