Marko Slams Horner Biography Amid Verstappen Recruitment Row

The underlying friction between Christian Horner and Helmut Marko has spilled over into the public eye once again, proving that their intense behind-the-scenes power struggle within Red Bull did not end simply because they have both moved on from their previous daily operations following the passing of founder Dietrich Mateschitz.

In his newly published biography, Christian Horner dedicates significant passages to Helmut Marko, acknowledging the Austrian's initial role in opening doors for him at Red Bull. However, the book portrays Marko's position as having become nebulous after Mateschitz's death, with Horner claiming he frequently had to clean up messes, particularly regarding the management of young drivers.

The memoir also features a striking claim regarding Max Verstappen, alleging that Helmut Marko was initially intimidated by the driver's father, Jos Verstappen, to the point of having nightmares, and positioning Horner as the decisive figure who truly secured the young Dutchman's path into the team.

Responding to these assertions in interviews, Helmut Marko offered a sharp dismissal. As reported by FormulaPassion, he stated, "Cerco di stare alla larga da quella biografia, di ignorarla, Ralf Schumacher ha gia detto tutto dicendo che sono tutte bugie," making it clear that he actively chooses to steer clear of the publication and considers its contents entirely fabricated.

Setting the record straight on how Max Verstappen actually arrived in Formula 1, Helmut Marko provided his own version of events. Secondo Christian era troppo giovane e troppo inesperto," Helmut Marko concluded.
