The MotoGP world championship battle has officially reached boiling point after Marc Marquez secured a stellar maximum points haul at the Motegi circuit in Japan. The phenomenal performance from the Spanish rider significantly slashed the championship gap, putting him within striking distance of the series leader as the season enters its crucial final stretch.
According to Motosan.es, the Ducati star completed a flawless weekend by winning Saturday's Sprint race and repeating his dominant form in Sunday's Grand Prix to claim 37 points out of 37 possible. This massive points injection moves him incredibly close in the standings to Jorge Martin, who retains the championship lead with 333 points while Marquez sits just behind with 331 points, narrowing the deficit to a mere two points.
This remarkable comeback has gathered incredible momentum since Aragon, allowing the #93 rider to force his way firmly back into title contention following a challenging phase earlier in the year. In Motegi, rather than waiting for mistakes from his rivals, Marquez aggressively hunted down victory. Navigating the tricky aerodynamic turbulence and slipstream effect during heavy braking zones proved difficult, but his calculated strategy paid off magnificently.

Reflecting on the grueling tactical battle on track, Marquez emphasized that executing his game plan required patience before making the decisive move. "La carrera ha sido dura, sobre todo detras de Jorge, pero sabia que si me ponia delante podia tener buen ritmo," explained Marquez regarding his intense pursuit. He realized that getting to the front as soon as possible was vital to managing his rhythm and mitigating risks effectively.
While the title fight appears increasingly focused on the top two, Marquez refuses to count out contenders like Bezzecchi who remains mathematically alive in the championship hunt. Heading into the final six Grands Prix with total backing from his factory squad, the Spanish veteran insists that maintaining an attacking mindset and the right balance between raw speed and risk management will be the key to keeping the pressure on the current championship leader.
