The European rally scene is gearing up for a thrilling season finale as M-Sport officially hands a significant career promotion to two exceptional young talents. Hubert Abramowski and Ville Vatanen are set to pilot M-Sport Poland Ford Fiesta Rally2 cars at the upcoming ERC season-closing round scheduled from October 23 to 25 in Portugal.

These coveted prize drives were earned by dominating the highly competitive ERC Fiesta Rally3 Trophy. Designed specifically to support the career progression of rising prospects, the initiative has been brought to life through a strong partnership involving M-Sport Poland, the WRC Promoter, tyre supplier Pirelli, and Warter Fuels, all united in nurturing the next generation of rally stars.

Abramowski, 20, was originally slated to utilize his prize drive during last year's ERC round in Wales. However, the Polish driver made a strategic decision to postpone his transition into the demanding Rally2 class to ensure he fully secured the ERC3 title first. Next week's event in Portugal ultimately fit best with Abramowski's broader competitive commitments, which have also featured appearances in the WRC3 class this season.

Meanwhile, Vatanen, who recently celebrated his 20th birthday, locked down this year's ERC Fiesta Rally3 Trophy crown following a stellar performance at the Czech round back in August. The Finnish youngster could have deployed his prize drive in Wales last month, but he similarly chose to prioritize securing the ERC3 championship before stepping up to a Rally2 machine.

M-Sport Poland director Maciej Woda expressed his delight that both talented competitors will receive the chance to take the next crucial step in their professional racing trajectories. Woda noted that he is particularly looking forward to witnessing the head-to-head battle unfold between Vatanen and Abramowski.

Ville was a rookie in the ERC Fiesta Rally3 Trophy this year, but he quickly proved difficult to beat on both gravel and asphalt, Woda stated while highlighting the impressive rise of the Finnish driver.

It will therefore be really interesting to see them competing against each other in identical cars in Fafe. Nonetheless, Woda issued a cautionary reminder emphasizing that both drivers must maintain a cool head and avoid pushing too hard to impress the team prematurely.
