Jorge Lorenzo has opened up about Marc Marquez in The Wild Project podcast. The former rival called the Cervera rider a 'beast' both physically and in ambition. According to Lorenzo, Marquez's determination to win goes beyond the norm of an elite rider.
Killer Mentality on Track
Lorenzo admitted that off the track, Marquez is a normal, down-to-earth person. But once on the bike, he transforms into a victory-hungry competitor. 'He didn't care if he had to push you off the track. He wasn't afraid of getting hurt, and that made him very dangerous,' Lorenzo said. That aggressiveness brought Marquez success, but also caused many crashes.
Marquez's ambition to always win set him apart from other riders like Valentino Rossi or Dani Pedrosa. If they had a bad day, they would settle for second or third. But Marquez never accepted defeat. 'He was like a pitbull, once on track, he always wanted to win,' Lorenzo emphasized.

Impact of Shoulder Injury
Lorenzo also highlighted the shoulder injury Marquez suffered at Jerez in 2020. According to him, that injury cost many world titles. 'Without it, he might have 10, 11, or 12 titles by now. He could surpass Rossi and chase Agostini's record of 13,' Lorenzo said. The injury was a turning point that marred Marquez's peak performance.
Nevertheless, Lorenzo still admires Marquez's technical skills. 'He was very strong under braking, while I relied more on corner speed. But he always found a way to win,' Lorenzo recalled. The combination of natural talent and courage makes Marquez a MotoGP legend.
