Liam Lawson is at risk of losing his eighth-place finish in the Silverstone Sprint after a stewards' investigation was confirmed ahead of the main British Grand Prix.

The Racing Bulls driver started the Sprint from ninth and passed Isack Hadjar to take eighth place. Lawson then held that position until the end of the 17-lap race.

Eighth place was significant because it represented the final points-paying position in the Formula 1 Sprint. However, that result is not yet fully secure after Lawson was placed under investigation for moving under braking.

The investigation relates to the phase in which Lawson was defending against Hadjar. In a short Sprint format, that battle carried direct consequences because only one point was available for eighth place, meaning any stewards' decision could alter the final classification.

Lawson must now visit the stewards to learn the outcome of the incident. If he is judged to have breached the rules, his eighth-place finish and the point he scored could be affected after the fourth Sprint of the 2026 season.

The situation leaves Racing Bulls waiting for confirmation before fully turning its attention to the rest of the British Grand Prix weekend. For Lawson, the stewards' decision will determine whether his positive Silverstone result stands or changes before the main race.
