Breathtaking drama unfolded at the iconic endurance classic as Brodie Kostecki and his co-driver secured a dramatic victory at the Bathurst 1000. The race, which had been largely controlled by the front-runners, completely turned on its head during the dying moments following a heartbreaking fuel disaster on the legendary Mount Panorama circuit.
The lion's share of the contest had seen consistent pacing until a slow brake change earlier in the afternoon temporarily dropped Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood down into fourth place. Nevertheless, sheer determination inside the cockpit allowed them to steadily claw their way back into contention as the race entered its crucial closing stages.
Tensions reached a boiling point in the final stanza when Will Brown engaged in fierce wheel-to-wheel battles near the front. The situation intensified further when Chaz Mostert suffered a heavy crash, forcing a full course yellow with just five laps remaining on the board.

That dramatic sequence set up a high-stakes three-lap dash to the chequered flag. Anton De Pasquale tried desperately to defend his lead at the restart, but Kostecki made quick work of Zach Bates with a decisive overtaking maneuver at Murray's Corner to snatch second.
The ultimate twist arrived on the very final tour coming down Mountain Straight, where De Pasquale's machine dramatically slowed to a crawl out of fuel. Kostecki and the rest of the chasing pack blew past instantly, leaving the stranded leader heartbroken while handing the race win to the grateful #17 crew.
