Kimi Antonelli won the 2026 British Grand Prix Sprint at Silverstone after overtaking polesitter Lewis Hamilton during the middle phase of the race.
Antonelli and Hamilton immediately broke away from the rest of the field in the opening laps. The momentum then shifted when the Mercedes driver made his move on Hamilton before controlling the lead through to the finish.
Hamilton still secured second place for Ferrari after starting from pole. The result kept his weekend on strong footing, but the Sprint win slipped away once Antonelli showed stronger execution in the decisive phase of the race.

Lando Norris completed the top three for McLaren. That result kept McLaren inside the lead fight, although the gap to the front two underlined Mercedes and Ferrari's stronger control of the Sprint.
George Russell and Charles Leclerc completed the top five, while Max Verstappen had to settle for sixth. Oscar Piastri finished seventh, ahead of Liam Lawson, who secured eighth place for Racing Bulls.
With this result, Antonelli strengthened his position as championship leader through a Sprint victory built on pace and execution against Hamilton. Attention now turns to the rest of the British Grand Prix weekend, where Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull will continue their fight in the next competitive sessions.
