Only an explanation from Dr. Angel Charte, MotoGP Medical Director, who took full responsibility for stopping Mir. “For several months, Joan Mir has been experiencing a series of symptoms that affect his energy levels and performance,” Charte said. “Recently, the severity of these symptoms has increased, but the cause has not yet been determined. Due to their persistence and severity, Mir has undergone a series of tests at the Dexeus University Hospital with the aim of reaching a definitive diagnosis. Because of the symptoms, the medical advice is to observe strict rest and undergo various treatments for the next 15 days. Consequently, I have advised him not to participate in the Japanese and Indonesian Grands Prix. His condition will continue to be closely monitored by my team.”
This statement underscores that Mir's health issue is not a minor injury. The symptoms of unknown origin have been affecting his energy and performance for months. This explains why Mir stopped his bike early at Misano and skipped post-race media duties. Honda then said Mir “hadn't been feeling well for days” and needed rest and further tests.
