Indonesian MotoGP 2026 Results: Bezzecchi Wins as Martin Grabs Championship Lead

A thrilling weekend of racing unfolded at the Mandalika Circuit, where Marco Bezzecchi climbed back to the very top of the podium after a masterclass performance in the Indonesian GP main race. The Italian rider successfully conquered intense battles at the front, finishing ahead of Raul Fernandez in second and Jorge Martin in third, while Ai Ogura rounded out Aprilia's impressive top-four lockout.

The action in Lombok delivered high drama right from the moment the starting lights went out. Raul Fernandez was able to take his grid slot despite fracturing the index finger of his right hand following an incident with Bezzecchi at the first corner during the Sprint Race. Meanwhile, the Honda camp had to cope without Aleix Espargaro, who was forced to withdraw from the Mandalika grid due to physical discomfort preventing him from starting.

Tension peaked at the front as Marc Marquez made a stellar start from the line, attempting to overtake Fernandez around the outside. However, it was Bezzecchi who managed to claim the lead into the opening corner, though the Trackhouse rider quickly fought back to reclaim the front spot. Marquez held firm in third ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio, with Fermin Aldeguer and Jorge Martin slotting in right behind.

Incidents quickly altered the competitive landscape as just two laps into the race, Aldeguer crashed out of contention, promoting Martin up to fourth place. A crucial world championship duel then erupted as Martin overtook Marquez, a maneuver that left Marquez clinging to a mere single-point advantage in the provisional standings.

Tire pressure dramas once again played a pivotal role in the overtaking battles throughout the Sunday race. Pedro Acosta charged through the field, catching up to Marc Marquez and eventually executing a clean pass at turn 10 of the Mandalika layout. Tire pressure regulations later forced Acosta to temporarily let Marquez back past, though the KTM youngster swiftly regained fourth position, effectively handing the championship lead back into Martin's hands.

At the very front, Bezzecchi closed in directly on the rear wheel of Fernandez, biding his time to launch a race-winning attack. This relentless exchange of positions and strategic tyre management highlighted the sheer unpredictability and fierce competition defining the current premier class season.
