Fermin Aldeguer has successfully undergone surgery for a hand fracture sustained following a heavy crash during Sunday's Grand Prix at Mandalika. The talented rider made a brilliant start, surging from sixth up to fourth position on the opening lap before suffering a costly tumble at Turn 16.
The official MotoGP medical director confirmed shortly after the incident that the rider sustained a fracture at the base of the first metacarpal bone in his right hand. Prompt medical intervention was deemed entirely necessary upon his immediate return to Spain for specialized treatment.
The surgical procedure has now been completed without complications by Doctor Xavier Mir. Taking to social media to update his supporters, the rider shared a reassuring message about his physical condition. "Another bump in this 2026... ride[r] OK !!!Thank you Dr. Mir and your team," he posted online.

Despite the successful operation, participation in next weekend's upcoming round at Phillip Island remains highly doubtful. Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi admitted to Sky Italia in the paddock that he does not expect his rider to feature in the Australian event.
This unfortunate hand injury marks the third major physical setback for the rider throughout the 2026 campaign. Last year's Mandalika winner previously missed winter testing and the opening round in Thailand due to a femur fracture, before enduring another three-race absence following a vertebrae fracture at Assen earlier in the year.
