Fourmaux on Fire in SS14, Evans Shocked: 'He Clearly Doesn't Care'

Adrien Fourmaux was the centre of attention once again at Rally Paraguay. On SS14, the Hyundai driver delivered a brutal performance, setting the fastest time and reinforcing his mission to chase down Elfyn Evans in the overall standings. This wasn't just fast—it was aggressive, exactly the kind of statement that would worry Evans.

On paper, SS14 was just 11 kilometres long. But don't be fooled—this stage still had its traps. Fourmaux powered through with a pace that was hard to match, beating Sebastien Ogier by exactly two seconds. Ogier, however, has nothing at stake in the overall standings now, so he's simply driving through the stages.

Fourmaux's main target is clear: Evans. The Toyota driver lost 7.7 seconds to the Frenchman. As a result, the gap between them in the overall standings has now shrunk to 23.1 seconds. Evans couldn't hide his surprise when he heard his time.

"Really? Wow, it didn't feel that bad. Clearly he doesn't care about the rocks or punctures. There's always more risk, but you have to get to the finish," said Elfyn Evans, describing Fourmaux's madness.

Meanwhile, rally leader Sami Pajari finished third, losing 4.6 seconds to Fourmaux. However, he actually extended his lead over Hayden Paddon, who lost time again. Paddon finished fifth and is now 2.2 seconds further behind the Toyota driver.

Pajari's advantage over Paddon is now almost half a minute. The Finn said he got through SS14 cleanly, and the most important thing is that his rival finished behind him again. "That's exactly what we should be doing. The first part of the stage felt really slow. Visually, at least, the risk of a puncture looked very high," said Pajari.

There are still three stages left on Saturday at Rally Paraguay, before the event concludes on Sunday. With Fourmaux on fire and Evans feeling the pressure, the weekend still holds plenty of drama.
