The inaugural Extreme Bike championship is set to light up the Australian drag racing scene. ANDRA has confirmed that the title will be contested over three rounds, using the Chicago Shootout format and heads-up Pro Tree starts that demand lightning reflexes and nerves of steel.
The series kicks off on October 10 at the All Bike Nationals, Dragway at The Bend. Next, riders will battle at the ANDRA Drag Racing Masters at Sydney Dragway on January 23, before the season finale at the ANDRA Grand Finals, again at Dragway at The Bend, on April 23-24. ANDRA Christmas Tree trophies will be awarded at each event, as well as to the eventual champion.
Financial Boost and Star Power
The class has received a significant boost from champion racer Joe Khoury. Through his business, Motorcycle Transport and Repairs, Khoury has signed on as bracket sponsor and will add $1000 to ANDRA’s $3000 championship prize pool. This injection will provide a valuable incentive for both the winner and runner-up.
“The popularity of the class is growing, and I see it becoming a real fan favourite in Australia,” Khoury said. “These bikes have the latest technology, equipment, and financial investment behind them, and by running six second passes at over 215 mph on the quarter mile, they bring a whole new meaning to the word ‘extreme’. It was definitely a no-brainer for me to get behind it, and I hope that by adding my $1000 as sponsored prize money on top of the $3000 ANDRA prize pool it will help create a nice extra incentive for the winner and runner-up of the championship.”
The Extreme Bike Association is also putting money on the line, with a further $1000 for its highest-scoring member across the three rounds. Riders must join the association before the opening round at the All Bike Nationals to be eligible.

“We are really excited about Extreme Bike joining the ANDRA Series. We are so excited in fact, that not only are we actively encouraging all of our members to be a part of it, but we are also going to be putting an extra $1000 on the line,” Extreme Bike Association Spokesperson, Deanne Azzopardi, said. “We can’t wait to see everyone out there racing for ANDRA Christmas Trees and to celebrate our first ANDRA Regional Sportsman Series Extreme Bike champion.”
ANDRA CEO Tim McAvaney welcomed the new addition to the Regional Sportsman Series. “Extreme Bike has a passionate and growing following in Australian drag racing, and the enthusiasm we have already seen from the Extreme Bike Association has been outstanding,” McAvaney said. “We are so pleased to welcome Extreme Bike to the ANDRA Regional Sportsman Series, and to have the support of Joe Khoury and his business Motorcycle Transport and Repairs behind it is a great opportunity to launch this initiative.”
Class regulations are published in the ANDRA supplementary rulebook under Extreme Motorcycle. With a thrilling format, generous prize money, and strong backing, the Extreme Bike class is poised to become a major attraction for drag racing fans across Australia.
