WorldSBK rider Tommy Bridewell admitted he was completely lost for words after securing a sensational, career-best top-five finish during Race 1 at the highly demanding Aragon circuit. Originally qualifying in eighth but promoted to seventh following a grid penalty for Alberto Surra, the former British Superbike champion executed a phenomenal launch off the line to instantly slot into fifth position. Piloting the satellite Ducati machinery for the newly formed Superbike Advocates squad, Bridewell successfully fended off intense pressure from significantly more experienced rivals to maintain his position until the chequered flag. This remarkable achievement stands as a massive upset, especially considering the independent team was essentially assembled at the very last minute right before the racing season commenced.

Speaking directly to the official WorldSBK.com website, the British rider described his maiden top-five result as an absolute pipe dream that finally became a reality for everyone involved in the project. He expressed pure amazement at the exceptionally high level of the championship, openly admitting that the raw, relentless pace at the front of the pack occasionally blows his mind. Bridewell emphasized his immense pride in representing the Superbike Advocates banner, praising Lee and his entire family for putting their unwavering faith in his riding abilities. He also highlighted that achieving such a phenomenal result on only his second visit to the Spanish venue serves as a massive testament to both the crew's hard work and the sheer engineering excellence of the Borgo Panigale factory package.

The magnitude of Bridewell's performance on the asphalt was further amplified by the fact that he stubbornly clung onto fifth place while under constant attack from fellow Ducati riders Lorenzo Baldassarri and Yari Montella, both of whom have firmly established themselves as consistent front-runners throughout the 2026 campaign. During the nerve-wracking final stages of the race, Baldassarri applied immense psychological and trackside pressure, yet Bridewell's flawless defensive lines meant the Italian rider simply could not find a clean overtaking opportunity. Looking ahead to Sunday's physically demanding double-header featuring the Superpole Race and Race 2, Bridewell pinpointed tyre selection as the only remaining question mark for his garage. However, armed with incredible one-lap speed and consistent race pace, he remains highly confident that a perfect start will allow him to replicate his historic success and enjoy another massive celebration on track.
