The World Rally Championship season may have concluded its recent battles, but Elfyn Evans is straight back to work behind the steering wheel. According to RallyJournal, following last week's running where Kalle Rovanpera and Ott Tanak tested Toyota's car for next season on asphalt in Spain, the development program has shifted swiftly to the next batch of drivers.

This week's testing duties have seen a flurry of activity in the cockpit. Sami Pajari took over testing responsibilities on Tuesday, with Takamoto Katsuta stepping in on Wednesday. The newly crowned world champion is set to have his turn before the weekend arrives, while runner-up contenders are also gearing up to join the valuable running.

Excitement is palpable within the paddock as preparations for the upcoming campaign ramp up. Runner-up Oliver Solberg shared his anticipation about joining the official test with Norwegian news website Parc Ferme. "I’m heading to the test this Sunday. It will be cool. There will be something new and exciting, and at the same time I will be able to prepare well for next year," Solberg stated.

Behind the scenes, the Japanese manufacturer acknowledges that there is still plenty of ground to cover. Toyota technical director Tom Fowler explained to DirtFish that the team retains a massive workload ahead of the new season, emphasizing that every mile on the tarmac generates critical engineering feedback.

"It makes things a little easier that we no longer have to head to another rally," Fowler said, referencing the cancellation of the Saudi Arabian WRC round. "लेकिन बट we still have to do the testing and, as you can imagine, every test produces more data and more things to discuss."

Adding a special touch to the test, a small surprise awaits the newly crowned world champion upon his return to the cockpit. "It will be nice to see Elfyn Evans and Scott back in the car. We even put the number one on the side of the car for Elfyn," Fowler revealed.
