The opening 60-minute practice session of the Repco Bathurst 1000 weekend was brought to a premature halt following a significant accident involving the Dick Johnson Racing entry. The incident occurred with just over two minutes remaining on the clock during Friday morning's running at Mount Panorama, forcing officials to prematurely conclude the session.
Driver Tony D'Alberto, sharing the #38 Ford Mustang GT, reported over the team radio that a sudden loss of control at the undulating section of the circuit caught him out. I had a big slide down the Dipper and spat me out, Tony D'Alberto radioed, explaining the sudden shunt that necessitated the late red flag.

Prior to the incident involving Tony D'Alberto, the session had already seen another major interruption when Ryan Wood clipped the inside wall at Forrest's Elbow. The impact snapped his Toyota Supra sharply across the track, sending it hard into the outside barrier and causing the initial stoppage of the morning.
Amidst the disruptions, Erebus Motorsport successfully maintained the strong form they demonstrated throughout Thursday's sessions. Following Lochie Dalton's impressive pace earlier in the event, teammate Cooper Murray propelled their Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 to the top of the timesheets with a blistering lap time of 2:04.7122 seconds in Practice 3.
The squad's competitive depth was further underscored as Erebus Motorsport effectively bookended the top five, with the pairing of Jobe Stewart and Jarrod Hughes securing fifth position. Splitting the frontrunners were Jack Le Brocq and Harri Jones in second for Matt Stone Racing, ahead of Chaz Mostert and Fabian Coulthard for Walkinshaw TWG, while James Golding and Richie Stanaway claimed fourth for the Blanchard Racing Team.
