Cal Crutchlow will remain at the Aragon circuit next weekend as a backup. LCR Honda has confirmed that the British rider stays on standby, while Johann Zarco attempts an early return from the severe knee injury he sustained at Catalunya.

Zarco has been sidelined for 100 days after the Turn 1 incident at Catalunya that caused knee ligament damage. His initial target was Misano in mid-September, but recent progress has allowed him to bring forward his comeback to Aragon.

The final decision still depends on a pre-event medical check and how Zarco feels when he rides the Honda RCV for the first time since May. If everything goes well, he will race, but if not, Cal Crutchlow is ready to step in.

Crutchlow, who retired from full-time racing, was called back to replace Zarco for the past six rounds. His best finish as a substitute has been 16th. Nonetheless, his presence at Aragon provides a safety net for the team if Zarco cannot compete.

Zarco will also have to serve a double long lap penalty for causing the Catalunya incident that led to his injury. This will be an extra burden when he returns to the track.

LCR's decision to bring Crutchlow as a backup shows their seriousness in handling an uncertain situation. With Crutchlow's experience, having won three MotoGP races with LCR, Lucio Cecchinello's squad has a strong option if Zarco is not fully fit.

The Aragon MotoGP this weekend will be a crucial moment for Zarco to prove his readiness, and a test for LCR in managing risk. Will Zarco race? Or will Crutchlow return to the track? We'll wait for the confirmation.
