Charles Leclerc issued a personal note of caution despite securing second on the grid for Ferrari in qualifying for the 2026 British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Leclerc claimed a second consecutive front-row start, an important result after a difficult run across recent races. The Monegasque has struggled to find confidence in the car and has often been unable to match team-mate Lewis Hamilton's pace.

"Yes, I'm pleased," Leclerc said.

"It's been a few tough races where the feeling was not quite right, where I was struggling to put everything together," he added.

The qualifying result was significant because Leclerc out-qualified Hamilton on the seven-time world champion's home soil. However, he still fell short of Kimi Antonelli, who secured his fifth pole position of the season with a late Q3 improvement.

"On the Sundays, we've had things that sometimes we couldn't score points, so to be back with a good feeling, there's been so much work behind the scenes to get back that feeling inside the car," Leclerc said.

"Today is probably the first time where I had it back, so that is a good thing," he added.

Even so, Leclerc refused to treat the result as proof that his recent struggles are fully behind him. He said consistency remains the key area to prove, particularly after a spell in which his performance has fluctuated from one weekend to the next.

"At the same time, I know how much I've struggled to be consistent recently, so it's only the beginning, but it's a good step in the right direction," Leclerc said.

"I just didn't have much pace recently, so you've got to look at every single thing you do," he added.

Starting second gives Leclerc a major strategic opportunity to pressure Antonelli from the opening phase of the race. However, his own warning underlines that Ferrari's Silverstone progress does not remove all doubts, especially if race-pace consistency again becomes decisive on Sunday.
