Marco Bezzecchi once again showed his pace at the Aragon circuit. After taking pole position with a new lap record in qualifying, the Aprilia rider topped the MotoGP warm-up session on Sunday morning. He set a time of 1'46.512s, 0.474 seconds clear of Pedro Acosta in second.
This result is a strong signal for Bezzecchi ahead of the main race this afternoon. But behind him, Marc Marquez from Ducati Lenovo was only 0.743 seconds adrift. The eight-time world champion clearly doesn't want to lose momentum, especially after his Sprint Race victory on Saturday.
A surprise came from Pol Espargaro, who is replacing Maverick Vinales at Tech3. The KTM rider finished fourth, just 0.846 seconds behind. Fabio Quartararo from Yamaha was fifth, and Luca Marini from Honda sixth. Their performances show that the competition at the top is getting tighter.
All riders chose medium tyres for front and rear, except Alex Rins who used a soft rear. This decision will be a key factor in the race strategy later. The main Aragon Grand Prix will run for 23 laps, starting at 2pm local time.
With clear weather and a dry track, riders are expected to be aggressive from the start. Bezzecchi certainly hopes to maintain his performance, while Marquez will try to secure his sixth consecutive win at Aragon. Pressure is also on Jorge Martin, who leads the championship, though his advantage over Bezzecchi has now shrunk to 29 points.
