Pecco Bagnaia heads into the Aragon Grand Prix with a renewed sense of optimism. After a bruising weekend at Silverstone, the Ducati Lenovo rider firmly believes Aragon will tell a different story.
“It’s a different story compared to Silverstone,” Bagnaia told media at Aragon on Thursday. “I’m sure that Ducati here will have more potential than the Aprilia because the level of grip, the layout is more like Brno, this track for us.”
His confidence is rooted in solid history. Bagnaia finished third at Aragon last year in a Ducati podium lockout and claimed his maiden MotoGP victory at this very circuit in 2021. He also admits the anti-clockwise layout suits his riding style perfectly.
“Normally I struggle when the corners are tight. But here you have a lot of very long, fast corners, and it’s better for me. This track is good for me because good braking, good open left corners—it’s helping me,” Bagnaia explained.
The British Grand Prix was a nightmare for Bagnaia, finishing 17th in the sprint before crashing out of the main race. He revealed his main issue was rear grip. “At Silverstone, with soft or medium, I was doing three laps with a good amount of grip, then I was completely without the rear. It was difficult, even for the time attack,” he said.
Now, with Pecco Bagnaia ready to battle, Ducati aims to turn the tide. Marc Marquez trails championship leader Jorge Martin by 40 points, putting pressure on the Borgo Panigale squad to close the gap.
With Bagnaia’s confidence and a track that historically favors Ducati, Aragon could mark a turning point. But Aprilia, dominant in England, won’t back down easily. This weekend will reveal whether Ducati’s potential truly materializes on the Aragon asphalt.
