Two-time WorldSBK champion Alvaro Bautista has admitted that while he does have options on the table for 2027, none of them provide the spark needed to keep him motivated in the championship. The veteran Spaniard is currently enduring the toughest campaign of his WorldSBK career, struggling to find competitive form as the season progresses through its demanding rounds.

Statistics underline the scale of the challenge this year, with Alvaro Bautista managing just a single podium finish after ten rounds of intense competition. His performance level has dipped significantly compared to his championship-winning years, and within the Ducati ranks, he has frequently been outperformed by other riders on the grid, including strong performances from Yari Montella.

The combination of a difficult technical adaptation, a lack of raw performance, and turning 41 years of age has naturally complicated his prospects for the 2027 season. Speaking candidly ahead of the race weekend at Estoril, the experienced racer made it clear that he refuses to commit to a project simply out of obligation without a genuine belief in its competitive potential.

"At the moment, I don’t have any clear proposals that motivate me to keep racing," Alvaro Bautista told WorldSBK.com ahead of the Estoril Round. He emphasized his intention to finish out the current campaign, take a proper break, and carefully evaluate his options rather than rushing into a decision that does not feel right for his career trajectory.

"I don’t want to do something just because I have to. I want something that motivates me and makes me feel like I have a chance to recover my form and performance level," Alvaro Bautista added, signaling that his long and storied career in international motorcycle racing could soon be reaching its final chapter.
