Alonso Rules Out 2027 Dakar Rally Due to F1 Schedule

Ahead of the Grand Prix weekend, Fernando Alonso firmly extinguished swirling rumors regarding a potential return to the grueling desert endurance classic in the near future. The veteran Spanish driver made it crystal clear that the prestigious rally raid program simply cannot align with his ongoing commitments in the pinnacle motorsport category.

Speculation had been running rampant across the paddock over recent days suggesting a sensational comeback to the sand dunes for the 2027 edition. However, speaking directly to the media during the official press conference, the talismanic Aston Martin racer moved swiftly to shut down the persistent paddock chatter.

"I will not race the 2027 Dakar, it is not a program compatible with that of F1," Fernando Alonso stated when addressing reporters who pressed him on his future motorsport endeavors outside of single-seaters.

The two-time world champion emphasized that whenever the time arrives for him to take on a fresh racing chapter beyond grand prix racing, he will personally break the news rather than leaving room for unverified rumors or premature paddock gossip to dictate the narrative.

"When the time comes for me to announce a new commitment beyond F1, I will be the one to do it and there will be no leaks or speculations that anticipate it," added Fernando Alonso as he outlined his firm stance on managing his professional career moves.

Alongside dismissing the cross-country desert event, the veteran competitor also pushed aside immediate speculation linking him to GT3 machinery racing in the style of reigning world champion Max Verstappen. He stressed that adapting to sports car categories demands immense dedication and specialized training.

"Every competition requires preparation and training, even GT3 is no exception, it is a very competitive category of specialists," concluded Fernando Alonso before turning his full attention back to engineering briefings with Aston Martin.
