The future of Alex Rins in world championship racing could soon be decided. After losing his Yamaha MotoGP seat for 2027, the Spanish rider is reportedly closing in on a deal to race for the GoEleven Ducati team in WorldSBK next year.

The news emerges amid a heated silly season. Rins, a grand prix winner with Suzuki and Honda, will be released by Yamaha at the end of this season. The Iwata factory has chosen an all-new line-up of Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura for 2027.

Rins is not the only MotoGP rider reportedly heading to WorldSBK. Brad Binder is linked to BMW, Jack Miller is rumored to join Yamaha, while VR46's Franco Morbidelli could swap places with WorldSBK champion-elect Nicolo Bulega at Aruba.it Ducati.

According to GPOne, Rins is targeting a Ducati Panigale V4, the dominant bike this year, via the GoEleven team. Journalist Riccardo Guglielmetti writes that "both sides appear to be cautiously optimistic about a successful outcome" and this week "will be decisive for Alex Rins' move to GoEleven in 2027." Interestingly, Rins might not replace Lorenzo Baldassarri but instead join him on a new second GoEleven entry.

This move comes as Rins struggles for form. He starts this weekend's Aragon MotoGP in 20th place, with a best finish of ninth on Yamaha's struggling new V4. Factory team-mate Fabio Quartararo is the leading Yamaha rider in 14th. Quartararo will switch to Honda for the new 850cc/Pirelli era.

This leaves Yamaha with a fresh face in MotoGP. Triple WorldSBK champion Toprak Razgatlioglu will be the only Yamaha rider staying put for 2027, with Izan Guevara set to replace Jack Miller at Pramac.
