MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Alex Marquez topped Day 1 of the 2026 FIM MotoGP pre-season test in Buriram for BK8 Gresini Racing, edging reigning world champion Marc Marquez in a tightly contested opening session ahead of the Thai Grand Prix.
Alex Marquez set a 1m29.262s on the Ducati GP26 to secure the fastest time of the day. Marc Marquez, representing the Ducati Lenovo Team, finished second overall just +0.129s adrift, while Franco Morbidelli completed the top three for the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team on a GP25 machine at +0.189s.
Marco Bezzecchi placed fourth for Aprilia Racing (+0.200s), with Johann Zarco emerging as the leading Honda rider in fifth for Castrol Honda LCR. Raul Fernandez and Joan Mir strengthened Honda and Aprilia’s presence inside the top seven, highlighting a closely matched front group.

Further down the order, Maverick Viñales secured eighth for Red Bull KTM Tech3 ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio and Brad Binder, who rounded out the top ten. Francesco Bagnaia ended the day 12th at +0.536s, while Pedro Acosta was 13th for Red Bull KTM.
Jorge Martin returned to action for Aprilia in 15th, while Jack Miller led Yamaha’s charge in 17th for Pramac Racing Yamaha. Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins followed in 18th and 19th respectively for Monster Energy Yamaha.
