The premier class grid sees another major shakeup ahead of this weekend's action as Aleix Espargaro makes his competitive return to the MotoGP paddock. According to The-Race, the factory test rider has been drafted in to pilot the RC213V machine at the Indonesian Grand Prix.
Honda was forced to shuffle their lineup once again after Joan Mir remained sidelined at home due to an ongoing medical investigation into persistent health issues. The situation was compounded when scheduled stand-in Takaaki Nakagami suffered a collarbone fracture on his very first lap of the weekend during the previous round at Motegi.
For Aleix Espargaro, this weekend marks his first race appearance since last year's season finale in Valencia. It also represents a monumental milestone following a career-threatening private testing crash at Sepang back in April, which left him with four fractured vertebrae and required multiple surgeries in Spain.

"It is always a great honour to join the factory Honda team in MotoGP," said Aleix Espargaro in a team statement. "I want to say thank you to them for trusting me to ride while Joan and Taka recover."
The veteran rider acknowledged the immense physical demands of the Indonesian layout, approaching the weekend with calculated caution given his limited seat time following extensive back rehabilitation.
"After the crash at the start of the year and my injury, I have not had as much time on the bike as I would like, and we travel to Mandalika with realistic expectations as I’ve had only a small number of laps and it’s a really physical track before we even speak about the weather," he added. "Let’s understand how we can best help the team and Honda this weekend and focus on that."
