Aldeguer Officially Joins VR46, Future Alongside Valentino Rossi

Fermin Aldeguer finally knows where his MotoGP career is heading. The rider from Murcia has been officially confirmed as part of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team from 2027, leaving Gresini after the 2026 season concludes. This decision also extends Aldeguer's ties with Ducati, this time under the team owned by Valentino Rossi.

The news had been circulating in the paddock for months, and now it's finally official. Aldeguer will continue riding a Ducati but moves to one of the most prestigious satellite projects in MotoGP. This agreement also aligns with the renewed partnership between Ducati and VR46, which will last at least until the end of 2029 as a Factory Supported team.

“I am very happy to take this step in my MotoGP career with the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team. Signing with Valentino's team is incredible. He has always been one of my idols and a reference for me. I believe having him within the team can help me improve as a rider thanks to his valuable advice,” Aldeguer said in an official statement.

He also highlighted the challenges of the 2027 regulations. “The VR46 Racing Team is the Ducati Factory Supported Team, an extremely professional team, and I am very happy to compete with them. With the new 2027 regulations, my goal will be to adapt to the new tires, but also to the new bike. Having the official Ducati will help a lot in the evolution during the season,” he added.

Aldeguer set his targets for his debut season with VR46. “It will be a year where we look to be consistent, not make mistakes, and spend as much time as possible on the bike to gather information. I am sure we will work very well with the whole team and Ducati's engineers. We can do a great job and aim to be consistently in the top five positions,” he explained.

Aldeguer's MotoGP journey began in 2025 with Gresini after impressing in Moto2. His first season in the premier class quickly confirmed expectations: he was named Rookie of the Year and took his first MotoGP victory at the Indonesian Grand Prix, becoming the second-youngest rider in history to win a premier class race, only behind Marc Marquez.

With this move, Aldeguer will face his third season in MotoGP with a significant change of structure, but still with the same manufacturer. Ducati clearly still believes in one of its top prospects, and gives Aldeguer a competitive project at VR46. The question now is: can he meet the high expectations at the legendary team?
