Ai Ogura Out of Aragon GP After Training Crash in Japan

Ai Ogura has been ruled out of this weekend's Aragon Grand Prix after suffering a hand injury during a training session in Japan, requiring surgery. The Trackhouse rider, currently third in the MotoGP standings, will miss the race at Motorland.

In an official statement, the American team confirmed that Ogura sustained an injury to his left hand while training in Japan. Upon arrival in Europe, a fracture near his left thumb was diagnosed, and surgery is scheduled for Thursday.

To fill the void at Aragon on 30 August, Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori will step in as replacement. The team expressed gratitude for Savadori's willingness to step in at short notice.

The crash occurred while Ogura was training at a track near Tokyo, close to his family and friends, where he had been enjoying his two passions: riding production bikes and fishing. The incident is a major setback for the Japanese rider.

This absence adds to Ogura's recent misfortune, following a crash at Silverstone last Sunday that cost him valuable points. He currently sits third, 37 points behind championship leader Jorge Martin. Missing Aragon could significantly dent his title hopes.
