Ever since returning to the Superbike World Championship as a full factory entry in 2020, Honda has continuously chased the elusive breakthrough it so desperately needs. Looking ahead to the 2027 campaign, factory rider Jake Dixon has boldly stated that the Fireblade must be competitive from the very first round so he can regularly fight for podium finishes.
Judging by the earlier phases of the season, such an objective sounds massive given how the project hit a new low point with injuries sidelining both primary riders and forcing temporary replacements into action. Despite lingering at the bottom of the manufacturer standings mid-season, recent developments have injected a much-needed dose of optimism into the garage.

A notable upward trend materialized during recent rounds, accompanied by steady progress from teammate Somkiat Chantra as he adapts to the CBR1000RR-R. Dixon noted that having a consistent lineup combined with productive private tests has steered the development path firmly back on track.

As reported by Speedweek, the British rider emphasized that the turnaround stems from a combination of team updates and his own improved physical fitness and electronics comprehension. Reflecting on the early season struggles, he expressed conviction that things would have unfolded differently without the initial injuries.

Furthermore, the upcoming technical transition to Michelin tires for 2027 presents a massive opportunity. Initial testing impressions at Cremona revealed that the stiffer carcass of the Michelin rubber aligns exceptionally well with the inherent traits of the Honda machine, offering renewed hope for the future.
