Next weekend is going to feel a lot like the 2026 World Rally Championship getting an encore for motorsport fans looking for a final thrill before the off-season. Following a dramatic main campaign where Elfyn Evans clinched the title over Oliver Solberg, the European Rally Championship is set for its ultimate showdown at the Rally Six Cities of Northern Portugal. Although Teemu Suninen has already wrapped up the driver's crown, a star-studded entry list guarantees a fierce battle right down to the final stage.
With the WRC not visiting Portugal next year, this event offers a golden opportunity for some of the world's best drivers to conquer those hallowed roads once more. Kris Meeke arrives as the man to beat after winning the previous round in Ceredigion and dominating the Fafe-based event for the past two consecutive years in his Toyota Portugal-run GR Yaris Rally2. However, Meeke will face a much stronger and deeper field than in his previous victories.
Team MRF has pulled out all the stops to halt Meeke's streak, deploying WRC2 standout Roope Korhonen in a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2, a package that triumphed at Rally Hungary last year on MRF rubber. MRF's arsenal also features Martins Sesks in a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, with the duo sharing a singular mission to secure the teams' championship for Team MRF.

The entry list also highlights rising youngster Patrick Enok, ready to measure his speed against 31 Rally2 machines. "I know I will have a lot to learn as I adapt to competing at this level, particularly with 31 Rally2 cars on the entry list," said Enok. He further noted, "I will give it my best. Having team-mates such as Roope and Martins will push me to raise my game and give me a valuable opportunity to learn from their experience."
Adding further intrigue, Lancia has expanded its presence to four cars to back Andrea Mabellini in his fierce runner-up battle against reigning champion Miko Marczyk. With an immense field ready to rumble in northern Portugal, the ERC finale is primed to deliver a masterclass in rallying action.
