The season finale weekend of the IDM championship at the Hockenheimring has historically drawn massive crowds not just to the Motodrom grandstands, but also created a unique atmosphere inside the paddock resembling a class reunion of former riders. Operating under the Euro Moto moniker for its current one-year intermezzo, the paddock atmosphere remained as vibrant and nostalgic as ever for visiting motorsport veterans.
On Sunday morning, Swiss rider Dominik Schmitter was spotted engaged in a friendly conversation with Frankfurt native Marc Moser. Just three years prior, the pair were fierce competitors battling against each other in the highly competitive Superbike class. Both individuals confirmed that they have never regretted stepping away from professional motorcycle racing when looking back at their respective retirements.
Marc Moser, who currently builds a successful career working as a business consultant, explained that while he does not miss the grueling pressure of racing, the sheer sensation of riding on a closed circuit is something he occasionally craves. He admitted to realizing that he needs to get back on a track bike more often to satisfy that lingering riding urge.

Meanwhile, Dominik Schmitter still maintains regular contact with two wheels, albeit at a drastically different pace than his professional racing days. Running his own driving school, Schmitter serves as an exemplary role model for his students by riding at moderate, safe speeds. Accompanied by his fiancee Samira at the Hockenheimring, the Swiss rider emphasized that they attended the event purely as regular spectators taking in the sights and sounds.
Schmitter utilized the weekend to catch up with old acquaintances, visiting the BCC team setup and catching up with Andy Gerlich, alongside paying a visit to his former helmet sponsor. Marc Moser was also a frequent presence in the paddock throughout the 2026 season, primarily supporting his father's Triple M Ducati Frankfurt operation and witnessing Lukas Tulovic claim championship glory.
