David Almansa delivered a stunning performance in Moto3 qualifying at Aragon, snatching his fifth pole of the season with a new lap record in the dying moments of Q2. The Liqui Moly Dynovolt Intact GP rider had been fastest all weekend, but a yellow flag threatened to ruin his session before a final flying lap secured a 1'56.347s benchmark.

The pressure was intense. Almansa, winner at Silverstone, had his first flying lap cancelled due to a crash by Joel Esteban, leaving him without a time on the board. With time running out, he produced a flawless lap to beat the previous record set by Jose Antonio Rueda in 2025, claiming pole in style. David Almansa expressed relief and delight after the session.

Marco Morelli had briefly taken the top spot for Aspar but was pipped by just 0.033s, settling for second. Championship leader Maximo Quiles opted for a solo run, leading the timesheets for most of Q2 before finishing third, just 0.043s off the new record.

Matteo Bertelle secured fourth for Level Up - MTA, using the slipstream of Alvaro Carpe, who had to settle for seventh. Adrian Cruces continued his strong form with fifth for CIP Green Power, while Brian Uriarte was the best Q1 graduate and top rookie in sixth for Red Bull KTM Ajo, ahead of his teammate Carpe.

Adrian Fernandez was the top Honda in eighth for Leopard, with Valentin Perrone (Red Bull KTM Tech3) and Jesus Rios (Rivacold Snipers) completing the top ten. Joel Esteban's crash left him last, while David Gonzalez also fell and dropped to 17th.

This result sets up a thrilling race. Almansa has the momentum, but Quiles remains the championship leader and will be a formidable opponent. With the grid set, all eyes turn to the Aragon GP, where strategy and tire management will be key.
