MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Alex Marquez put BK8 Gresini Ducati on top at 17:00 WIB on Day 1 of the 2026 pre-season test at Buriram, as the opening day concluded with Ducati and Aprilia closely matched in outright pace.
The official test at Chang International Circuit was split into two sessions: Session 1 from 10:00–13:00 local time (10:00–13:00 WIB) and Session 2 from 13:20–18:00 local time (13:20–18:00 WIB). At 17:00 WIB during Session 2, Alex Marquez posted a 1m29.262s on the Ducati GP26, setting the benchmark for the afternoon.
In second position, Marco Bezzecchi recorded a 1m29.462s for Aprilia Racing, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio on the Pertamina VR46 Ducati with a 1m29.643s. Pedro Acosta was the leading KTM rider in fourth, while Ai Ogura completed the top five for Trackhouse Aprilia.

Earlier in the day, two-time world champion Francesco Bagnaia topped Session 1 at 13:00 WIB with a 1m29.678s for Ducati Lenovo. Team-mate Marc Marquez had led during the 11:00 WIB hour but suffered two separate crashes before maintaining a top-ten position overall.
The official Buriram lap record remains Bagnaia’s 1m28.700s (2024), while the fastest race lap stands at 1m30.637s set by Marc Marquez in 2025. Current test times remain within early-season development parameters as teams evaluate aero packages, electronics and tyre behaviour ahead of the opening round.
