What was supposed to be a special farewell weekend for Jack Miller at Phillip Island turned into a heartbreaking anti-climax. Together with his Pramac crew, the Australian rider had prepared a striking special livery for his final home Grand Prix appearance in the premier class. Instead of fighting for championship points one last time in front of his loyal home fans, he could only showcase the design during a slow-paced parade lap behind the safety car.

The sudden cancellation of the Australian Grand Prix due to severely restricted visibility—which heavily compromised the operational safety of the medical rescue helicopter—stunned the entire paddock. For the local hero, this ruling meant losing the final opportunity to properly wave goodbye to the grandstands from the racing grid. When the riders parked their machines on the start-finish straight after the formation tour, the immense weight of the moment became painfully clear to everyone present.

Visually moved by the overwhelming support, the veteran rider discarded his boots and knee sliders toward the grandstand before addressing the crowd with a heavy voice. He expressed his profound disappointment directly to the loyal spectators who had braved the miserable weather conditions for hours in hopes of seeing a delayed race start.

The sheer irony of the weekend added salt to the wound, as the rider had desperately prayed for wet weather throughout practice sessions while other competitors hoped for dry tracks. Now that the rain had finally arrived, hosting a safe Grand Prix proved entirely impossible. Despite the bittersweet ending, his global journey on two wheels is far from over, as he prepares for a triumphant return to Phillip Island next February aboard machinery from Yamaha in the Superbike World Championship.
