The landscape of motorsport timing suppliers in Australia and New Zealand has shifted. EM Motorsport, a company deeply rooted in the racing industry, has officially taken over ownership of Dorian Timing Systems. This move ensures the technology that has long been a backbone for various racing events in the region will continue under new management.
Dorian is widely known as a reliable timing system provider, used across circuit racing, karting, and club sprints. Since its founding in 2004, Dorian has become a trusted standard for many organizers. In fact, Supercars used the system until 2025 before switching to Dutch supplier MyLaps.
Under new ownership, EM Motorsport will retain and develop Dorian's systems alongside local partner Alitrax. EM Motorsport is no stranger to the industry; they supply equipment such as marshalling systems, digital flag panels, starting light systems, and accident data recorders for events like Formula 1, MotoGP, and IndyCar.

Dorian's Managing Director, Ian Robson, who led the company for over two decades, expressed his pride. "When I acquired Dorian back in 2004, our goal was to enhance the precision timing system that Australian motorsport could depend on weekend after weekend," he said. "It was very important to me that Dorian's technology and its customers were put in the right hands for the future. EM Motorsport understands both the technology and the demands of motorsport."
Echoing that sentiment, EM Motorsport CEO Luca De Angelis emphasized their top priority is continuity. "Dorian is a trusted name that has been part of Australian and New Zealand motorsport. Our priority is continuity: making sure existing customers continue to receive the products, servicing and support they rely on," he explained. "Working with Alitrax gives us an experienced partner on the ground and means customers will continue to have dedicated local support."
This marks a new chapter for Dorian, which will now continue to innovate with financial and technical backing from its new owner. Existing customers, including timekeepers and circuit managers, are assured of continued service through established channels. This commitment aims to keep Dorian's legacy alive in the region.
