Visitors who checked out the Piaggio stand at last year's EICMA likely found very little excitement, aside from the Aprilia SR GT400 maxi-scooter and various special scooter editions that mostly featured new color schemes across all brands. However, the Italian manufacturer is preparing a much more substantial lineup for the Milan trade show in 2026, shifting the spotlight directly to full-sized motorcycles with a major emphasis on their historic subsidiary from Mandello del Lario, Moto Guzzi.
The traditional brand from Lake Como is reportedly standing on the verge of a world premiere for an entry-level naked motorcycle that breaks away from long-standing brand traditions. Official details from the manufacturer regarding the upcoming naked bike remain scarce, leaving spy shots of prototypes undergoing final testing in northern Italy as the most crucial point of reference for industry observers.
Even the official model designation is still heavily debated, with trademark filings pointing toward names such as 'Il Viaggio 500' and 'The Trip 500' as clear indications of the bike's displacement category. In a major departure from the brand's iconic longitudinal V-twin engine layout, the new machine will be powered by a specialized version of the parallel-twin engine used by group sibling Aprilia in the Tuono 457.

Furthermore, the aluminum chassis found on the Aprilia counterpart will make way for a dedicated tubular steel frame specifically engineered for the Guzzi platform. Meanwhile, Aprilia itself is expected to use the EICMA stage to showcase new variants of its flagship RSV4 and the popular RS660, alongside receiving technical refinements for their standard versions and upcoming updates for the RS125 sportbike and Tuono 125 naked sibling.
