The opening day of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup Selection Event at Circuito de Guadix in Spain turned into a bitter disappointment for the young Dutch participants. Quinn de Joode, Luuk de Vries, Milan Hunneman, and Mick Koomen all took to the track on Monday, only to be informed afterwards that none of them secured a spot for Wednesday's final selection day.
A total of 127 young talents from 45 countries were invited to the Selection Event for the 2027 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. Roughly half of them hit the asphalt on Monday, while the second group gets their chance to prove themselves on Tuesday. All four invited Dutch riders were scheduled right away on the opening day, hoping to catch the selection committee's eye.
However, the verdict brought harsh news for the entire Dutch contingent. None of the four riders from the first group received an invitation to return to action on Wednesday, leaving the camp in disbelief over the final decisions made by the panel.

The omission of Luuk de Vries caused the most astonishment within the Dutch delegation. He was comfortably the fastest of the four Dutchmen on Monday and consistently made steady progress throughout the selection sessions, significantly outpacing several names featured on the final day's entry list.
Despite his pace, his name was absent from the list of 27 riders selected to advance, triggering immense disappointment and widespread disbelief regarding the criteria used by the four-member selection committee.
