The final chapter of the partnership between Francesco Bagnaia and the Borgo Panigale squad is increasingly resembling an awkward separation under one roof.
The intra-team contrast inside the official box has reached critical levels. While Marc Marquez continues to dominate proceedings at the front and shoulder the heavy burden of championship glory, Bagnaia's alarming slump in form has left him miles adrift from the leading battle, completely neutralizing the squad's numerical advantage against their rivals.
Following another dismal outing that saw him languishing down in 13th position, the Italian rider delivered a blunt assessment to broadcasters, openly admitting that his current mechanical predicament goes far beyond standard setup adjustments or electronics recalibration.
"Today, unfortunately, the lack of rear grip was staggering; I tried to manage the tires to salvage the best possible result, yet for more than half the race I was completely devoid of rear traction," Bagnaia stated. "On the final lap, my lap time was slower than my opening out-lap when arriving at the circuit. By the end of the race, my knee could no longer touch the asphalt through the right-hand corners due to the severe lack of leaning confidence.">
The factory rider expressed profound frustration over the persistent technical ceiling that has plagued his campaign. He hinted at a specific turning point experienced in past overseas rounds that temporarily unlocked his riding potential, a sensation that has now completely vanished from his current machine.
"When the root cause stems neither from standard setups nor electronic tuning, what else can you possibly do? You add power, you cut power, but even massive adjustments yield zero improvement because this exact issue has haunted us all year long. That elusive feeling we found during testing in Misano and the Japanese weekend last season is simply gone, and nobody can pinpoint the exact origin of this ongoing nightmare," he added.
