Dick Johnson Racing has made a definitive pledge regarding the future of its latest Mount Panorama conqueror following a remarkable victory secured by Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood. Team founder Dick Johnson hailed the milestone as the organization's most significant achievement since their maiden triumph back in 1981.
Unlike contemporary racing operations, the Stapylton-based squad historically retains virtually none of its previous Bathurst-winning machinery. Financial turbulence twenty years ago triggered a fire sale that saw the 1981 Ford Falcon XD and 1989 Ford Sierra RS500 acquired by the Bowden family. Furthermore, the 1994 EB Falcon was destroyed in an accident shortly after its victory, while the 2019 Gen2 Mustang winner currently resides in the United States under Team Penske ownership.
Determined not to repeat past omissions, co-owner Ryan Story confirmed that the newly crowned chassis DJRS-09 will remain under permanent team control. The chassis itself boasts a fascinating background, originally fabricated by James White for Blanchard Racing Team before DJR acquired and completed the build ahead of the current campaign.

"We’re going to continue to race the car at the Gold Coast," Story told Speedcafe, emphasizing its incredible track record featuring eight wins and seven pole positions. Although panel sets crossing the finish line have been carefully detached for dedicated preservation, the core machine will continue its active racing duties for the foreseeable future.
Addressing discussions surrounding potential private acquisition options, management clarified that internal shareholder provisions successfully secured the vehicle's permanent legacy. Once its competitive tenure officially concludes, the triumphant machine is slated to take pride of place inside the team's headquarters museum.
