Dick Johnson Racing has officially confirmed its technical strategy decisions ahead of the upcoming Supercars round on the Gold Coast, retaining Tom Moore in the primary engineering role. This setup continues following the pelvis fracture sustained by regular race engineer George Commins just days before the prestigious Bathurst 1000 endurance classic.

Despite the high-profile absence during the Great Race, DJR hopes to have the Sunshine Coast-based engineer trackside at Surfers Paradise as part of its broader performance personnel staff. His presence aims to boost the team's brains trust, leveraging his deep understanding of championship contender Brodie Kostecki acquired over their years working together in the domestic category.

However, Moore will maintain primary engineering duties, including direct radio communications with the driver during all track sessions. This operational continuity preserves the exact workflow that propelled the squad to its first Bathurst victory in seven years alongside co-driver Todd Hazelwood, ensuring a seamless weekend without compromising on-track performance.

Co-owner Ryan Story explained on the team's official podcast that the primary goal is to ease Commins back into the environment without imposing unnecessary physical strain or fatigue. "We’re really hoping he can be with us on the Gold Coast but we don’t want to put any pressure on him," Story stated, outlining the careful management of the situation.

Story further emphasized that integrating Commins into the strategic group provides valuable support without disrupting ongoing garage operations. "And it allows him to ease back in, but that’s a decision we’ve made in the lead-up to the race weekend," he concluded, highlighting the meticulous preparation driving the team's championship campaign forward.
