MotoGP, Sportrik Media - MotoGP rookie Diogo Moreira revealed he borrowed a pair of gloves from Marc Marquez during his premier-class debut at the 2026 Thai Grand Prix.
The Brazilian rider, who races for LCR Honda, confirmed the story during a media event organised by MotoGP sponsor Estrella Galicia 0,0. According to Moreira, his own gloves did not fit properly during the Buriram race weekend, prompting him to ask Marquez for help.
“Yes, I used Marc’s gloves. Mine didn’t fit me well, so I asked him for them. I thought maybe they would help me gain a couple of seconds,” said Diogo Moreira.

Moreira has a close training relationship with Marquez and his brother, Alex Marquez, frequently joining them for practice sessions in Spain. The MotoGP rookie explained that those sessions have been valuable for learning from two experienced riders competing at the highest level.
“I really enjoy training with them. It has always been a dream to train with Marc or Alex. I try to learn what I can, and they help me a lot,” he added.
Moreira’s MotoGP debut produced a promising result as he finished 13th in the Thai Grand Prix at Buriram, scoring his first points in the premier class. The result also marked a solid start to his rookie campaign following his Moto2 title-winning season.
The Brazilian will now prepare for his first home MotoGP event at the Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna in Goiania, where the championship heads for the Brazilian Grand Prix this weekend. Moreira confirmed that he will have his own racing gear ready, including properly fitted gloves.
“I’m happy. It was a positive debut. We made a big step from the test to the race, even though there is still a lot to learn,” said Diogo Moreira.
Reflecting on his journey to the MotoGP grid, Moreira also highlighted the sacrifices he made when leaving Brazil to pursue a racing career in Europe alongside his father.
“I sacrificed many things to come to Europe and start from scratch with my father. I left my whole life in Brazil behind, but I did it gladly because it was my dream to become world champion and reach MotoGP.”
Following a promising start in Thailand, Moreira now looks ahead to building momentum during the early phase of the 2026 MotoGP season as he continues adapting to the demands of the premier class.
